Glass Caliméro
Dimensions: 14 cm high and 7.5 cm in diameter
Children love to have visuals of animated characters on their personal accessories. This is especially true for accessories used in the kitchen such as glasses, cups, etc. The large Caliméro glass presented in this article will surely please your child to hold the different drinks you are going to serve him in the future.
An Italian cartoon character created in the early 1960s, Calimero is a bit apart in his category. Calimero was not originally created with the intention of being a cartoon character. Its creation was for advertising purposes.
Indeed, this little anthropomorphic chick, charming, but unlucky, fell into the mud as soon as he was born. This explains its distinctive black complexion compared to traditional chicks. Even in the litter he came from, he is the only one in this situation.
The brothers Nino and Toni Pagot who imagined this character intended it to be used in an advertisement for Ava laundry detergent. The purpose of the advertisement was to show the quality of the Ava detergent to remove any stain like mud on Calimero.
But this first appearance in 1962 was gradually extended to other series such as La costanza dà sempre buoni frutti ("Constancy always bears good fruit") or in the series "Calimero the Black Chick" in 1963.
Nino Pagot later died and his heirs took up the torch to make Calimero a celebrity around the world, known for his bad luck and his cult phrase "It's really too unfair". But before getting to that level, Calimero is put back in the context of an animated series with a non-advertising purpose.
The series, which lasted one minute, gradually took up space and then went to 5 and then 20 minutes. The cartoon was such a success that the episodes intended for the international market were exported to Japan. The Toei studio produced it in 47 episodes between 1974 and 1975 before a new version of 52 episodes was broadcast in the 1990s.
Calimero sees himself as an unlucky character and he keeps complaining about his situation. His line "It's really too unfair" at the end of each episode enters the collective imagination and since then, he has become the symbol of people who are victims of the persecution syndrome or those who complain in a ridiculous way.
Calimero is accompanied by several friends, including his girlfriend Priscilla, Valeriano, Piero, Rosalie and many others.
The large Caliméro glass is 14 cm high and 7.5 cm in diameter. Your child will be able to receive all his drinks there. On the glass is the drawing of Calimero the black chick with black spots on the rim. It is a very well decorated accessory.
