Tann's: a vintage school bag with a promising future!

Who has never heard of Tann's binder? If some of you missed it forty years ago, its smashing return in 2010 in schoolyards could not escape you. If? Still don't see which school bag we're talking about? So, imagine a rectangular schoolbag, made of leather crust (or imitation today), with a flap and two tucks clasps, stitched borders, two adjustable shoulder straps, a solid handle, solid tones or thematic patterns and the famous label bears the name... That's it? Can you visualize it? But yes, this schoolbag makes the law in your children's playground! It's very simple, everyone loves it! Children, parents, even teachers praise it. A background designed to best support schoolchildren in their schooling, from kindergarten to the end of primary school.

The creation of the Tann's brand

Famous brand of the 80s, Tann's is none other than the contraction of "Le Tanneur", a leather goods group that decided in 1978 to launch a collection of school bags and kits for schoolchildren. These sturdy satchels are made of leather crust enriched with colors with a rather BCBG style. It is a real success with schoolchildren and their parents: in fact, about 500,000 school bags are sold each year in the mid-80s. Moreover, many remember the famous audiovisual advertisement "T'as ton Tann's"! However, despite an indisputable success, the Tann's brand will collapse in the face of the license binders that invade the back-to-school market. Tann's disappeared completely in 1993.

Tann's evolves

In the mid-2000s, two nostalgic thirty-somethings decided to buy the Tann's license from Le Tanneur. The leather goods manufacturer accepts and makes the two buyers discover the secrets of manufacturing Tann's school bags in the Ain. The two men thus appropriate the brand and make it evolve by launching more current school bags, turned towards ecology. The new school bags will no longer be made of leather crust but of polyester, made from recycled plastic bottles. A little less than 10,000 school bags are sold in the first year, 100,000 binders will be sold a few years later.

In 2017, Tann's became the first seller of school bags in primary school in France, indeed 200,000 pieces were sold. The brand does not intend to stop there, it relaunches a vintage collection in leather crust and aims to become THE reference for everything related to children between 6 and 10 years old: glasses, shoes, clothes ... in addition to the bags, school bags, kits that have made their reputation.

Tann's is above all a high-end quality school bag. With its specificities namely stitching stitches, reinforced seams and often a gansage in reinforcement, Tann's leaves nothing to chance in the making of its many luggage. First manufactured in sober colors, the Tann's satchel is modernized by adopting a plethora of colors always more current.
