It's official! Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed the creation of a television series based on J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter. The band unveiled a video for the occasion: a few musical notes recognizable among thousands, the image of a castle and a few magic letters of gold color are enough! The stakes are high, but the promise is beautiful. And it is none other than the famous British novelist behind these mythical novels who will assume the role of executive producer for the next 10 years... We explain everything!

The broadcast of the first Harry Potter series

The Harry Potter phenomenon is 7 books and 8 films on the big screen (the last novel having been divided into two). Originally, there is a young woman named Joanne Rowling. Visionary in writing, she will develop a real language through each of these novels. She creates a fantastic universe where witchcraft reigns supreme. An enchanting world that will quickly invade children's literature.

In 2001, three years after the release of the first book of the saga, the first feature film dedicated to the young wizard was born. Then, each novel is the subject of a film adaptation until 2011. It is a global success: the media even talk about the most successful saga in history after Marvel and Star Wars.

The next goal for the franchise: the TV series. A bold bet that the Warner Bros group and the novelist herself are ready to take up!

A new streaming platform for this ambitious project

On May 23 in the United States, Warner Bros. Discovery will launch its new streaming platform called Max. The latter is the result of the merger between HBO Max and Discovery. It was during the press release of April 12 that the group confirmed the rumor: Max will host the very first series adapted from Harry Potter.

This new platform aims to compete with the giants Netflix and Disney. There is no doubt that by offering a wide range of choices and quality for everyone and by integrating iconic franchises like the DC universe or Harry Potter, it could well reach the top!

One novel, one cinematographic work, one series, three decades

As with the films, each volume of the saga will be the subject of television series. Will the last one enjoy two seasons as in the film adaptation? Mystery... However, one thing is certain: 10 years of television soap operas devoted to Hogwarts school are recorded!

"The stories in each of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter books will become a series for a decade," Max said in a statement.

Of course, a new cast to embody the iconic heroes is being studied. And this is where the problem lies... Even if J. K. Rowling, the successful author is delighted, some fans are divided on this new project. Very attached to cinematographic works and actors who interpret the main characters of the Harry Potter saga, not sure that they find the same magic through the future series. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson (to name a few) are inseparable from the heroes Harry, Ron and Hermione.

To reassure the most skeptical, the Warner Bros. Discovery group has already announced a "faithful adaptation" of each book. And then another beautiful promise is made by the British novelist in charge of the executive production of the series: that of finding more details that a film of a pre-established short duration can not serve!

While the seven novels were published between 1997 and 2007 and the films were released between 2001 and 2011, the television seasons should also cover ten years. But today, no release date is given, nor is the new cast of actors. A little more patience...
