The resource ceilings are as follows:

• €25,775 for 1 dependent child;
• €31,723 for 2 dependent children;
• 37,671 for 3 dependent children;
• €43,619 for 4 dependent children;
• then €5,948 per additional child.

If household resources slightly exceed these ceilings, you may be eligible for a differential back-to-school allowance, also calculated in relation to your income. Check with your Caf or MSA.

What are the amounts of the ARS in 2023?

The amount of the allowance varies according to the age of the child. For the year 2023, the amounts are as follows:

• for a pupil aged 6 to 10 years, the amount will be 398.09 euros;
• for a pupil aged 11 to 14, the amount will be EUR 420.05;
• For a pupil aged 15 to 18, the amount will be 434.61 euros.

It should be noted that these amounts are subject to revalorization each year, depending on changes in the cost of living.

When and how is the 2023 back-to-school allowance paid?

The ARS is traditionally paid during the month of August, a little before the start of the school year. For 2023, payments will take place on August 1 in the departments of Mayotte and Réunion, and on August 16 in metropolitan France and in the departments of Guadeloupe, Guyana and Martinique.

How do I ask for back-to-school help?

If you are already a CAF beneficiary and your child is between 6 and 15 years old, the ARS is automatically paid to you.

If your child is under 6 years old and entering CP, you will have to send a certificate of schooling to the Caf.

If your child is between 16 and 18 years old, you must declare that he or she is still in school or learning from your "My Account" space on the CAF website or via the "My Account" application.
